Shanghai Community International School

For many years, the International Food Fair (IFF) has been a cherished tradition and one of the biggest fundraisers organized by the Parent and Friends Association (PAFA) at SCIS Hongqiao. This year, despite the rain and cool weather, over 1,800 people came together to celebrate our diverse community and the rich cultures represented through cuisine. IFF 2024 provided a culinary journey showcasing flavors that highlight our school’s vibrant diversity—there’s truly no better way to experience a culture than through its food.

A Feast for the Senses

IFF 2024 featured 20 countries and regional booths, each showcasing cuisine and flavors from their respective areas. Each booth was a lively showcase of food traditions, inviting guests to sample everything from street foods to sweet desserts. The fair turned the school grounds into a bustling marketplace, where conversations flowed freely amid the lively atmosphere, and enticing aromas wafted from the stalls. 

Rhythms of the World

What’s a school event without music and dance? Student performers shared ethnic songs and dance routines from all corners of the globe. We also enjoyed watching young violinists entertain the crowd while some participants broke a sweat in the dance classes! With some booths offering interactive activities, IFF 2024 was an immersive experience, bringing us together as one through joy and laughter.
