Shanghai Community International School

After two months of hardship, we finally made it through the dark tunnel, and we would not be here without our outstanding Parents and Friends Association (PAFA) Pudong who dedicated their own time and effort into making our community a better place. Before we part ways for the summer, PAFA Pudong would like to share a few words and relive the highlights of this year.

And just like that, summer is here, and it is time to look back and wrap up. 

This special academic year was not as planned but we did still manage to gather and celebrate. Through these events, we have shown the beauty of our diverse cultural community. We have so much to share and learn from each other.  

At the beginning of the 2021-2022 academic year, PAFA Pudong arranged a Welcome Back BBQ, and it was an amazing start. Even a typhoon showed up and made the jumping castle into a water slide. Kids were having the best time ever, totally soaked. Our Japanese community was dedicated to sharing their traditions and showed up with great games for the whole family. We enjoyed food from around the world and felt that lovely sense of belonging.

The rich culture of our host country China was again highlighted at the Chinese New Year Lunch. Tasty food, lovely company, and beautiful traditions gave us memories for life. All the participants were given gifts to decorate their homes and celebrate the year of the Tiger with their families.   

K-Pop! Korean BBQ! Squid Games! Korean lunch took us on a marvelous trip to Korean culture. This event was an amazing input from our Korean families. Perfectly planned and executed. We ate and laughed through the whole huge meal. As it is a custom in Korean culture, gifts were given. We even got a bulgogi recipe! 

These and all the other bigger and smaller events were arranged with voluntary forces. Thank you all. Thank you to all who showed up and made these events filled with laughter, kids, and interaction. Thank you all who worked endlessly to make these events happen. Thank you SCIS Pudong for creating this community. We hope to see all the happy faces again next autumn.
