Roots & Wings | Nature, Art, and the Stories That Shape Us

Last month, the second Roots & Wings Experience took place in the serene setting of Yili Park, uniting students, families, and community members of all ages. Led by Ivy, a dedicated Happiness and Nature educator, alongside passionate student co-leaders, families explored the profound connection between nature, creativity, and well-being. Through immersive activities, they gained new perspectives on personal growth, resilience, and the power of creative expression.

A Day of Inspiration in Nature

This experiential learning experience focused on three key elements:

1. Senses: From the mirror walk to the introductions, participants were encouraged to touch, listen, and look—challenging them to open up their senses and deeply notice their surroundings.

2. Nature Says: Guided by students and the facilitator, participants reflected on the theme of Roots and Wings, in this unique context.

3. Lens & Lines: Attendees took pictures and wrote short poems that captured moments that embodied personal growth, resilience, and connection, aligning perfectly with the expo’s theme.

Families shared moments of discovery, children embraced creativity as a means of self-expression, and adults reflected on the role of art in building empathy and understanding.

Coming Up Next: Roots & Wings #3: A Tasting Experience – Roots in Flavor, Elevated by Stories

Building on this journey of exploration, our next Roots & Wings Experience will delve into the intersection of culture and well-being through the art of food and storytelling.
