We are proud to celebrate another exceptional achievement by our SCIS Hongqiao Dragons at the ACAMIS Central Math Olympiad 2025. 

Competing against 114 students from 10 international schools, our Dragons fielded FOUR TEAMS (TWO in GRADE 9–10 and TWO in GRADE 11–12). 

Major Achievements

With only a handful of schools earning top placements each year, taking 1st place reflects exceptional strategic thinking and mathematical mastery.

The Olympiad challenged students with four rigorous rounds that tested both collaborative problem-solving and individual skills. The energy reached a peak during the Group Lightning Round,  where students sprinted across the gym to collect new problems under intense time pressure, exhibiting quick thinking and precision.

Since September, our students have dedicated themselves to intense preparation. They worked closely with their coaches on challenging Olympiad-style problems covering advanced topics such as Number Theory, Counting Methods, and Sequences. 

Reflecting on the journey, MYP/DP Mathematics Teacher Rodrigo Infantozzi shared:

“Guiding students to excel in the ACAMIS Math Olympiad requires fostering collaborative problem-solving and strategic thinking under strict time constraints. Through regular meetings, students naturally developed teamwork by comparing solutions, debating efficiency, and refining strategies together. Emphasizing meta-cognition, which means understanding why one method outperforms another, and focusing on pattern recognition and elegant problem-solving proved essential.”

This year’s success builds on last year's outstanding performance, where SCIS teams secured 1st and 2nd place. With consistent excellence across years, our Dragons continue to embody curiosity, perseverance, and true Dragon Spirit in inter-school competitions.
