Shanghai Community International School

For the past several years, the SCIS Hongqiao Early Childhood Education (ECE) Art Auction has brought together creativity and compassion in a way that touches lives far beyond our classrooms. Organized by the SCIS Hongqiao Parent and Friends Association (PAFA), the auction channels the imagination of our youngest students into real-world impact. Through our partnership with Heart to Heart Shanghai, we have already helped provide life-saving heart surgeries for more than 35 children—a powerful reminder of what a caring community can achieve.

This year’s event, themed "A Colorful Life,"  once again transformed the campus into a vibrant celebration of art, heart, and community spirit.

Young Creators, Meaningful Messages

Guided by their teachers, our young learners—from Nursery to Grade 1, explored diverse themes, turning big ideas into bold artistic expressions.

Each class piece told a deeply personal story, from self-portraits capturing identity and individuality, to warm tributes to family and friendships, to imaginative landscapes filled with nature, animals, and city scenes, and even playful glimpses into their dreams and wildest imaginations.

Together, these works showed how even the youngest artists use creativity to express their thoughts, feelings, and perspectives with surprising depth.

A Night of Giving and Celebration

The SCIS Hongqiao ECE campus was full of energy as families came together to celebrate. Children beamed with pride as they showed off their creations, while parents explored the displays and connected with fellow community members—all brought together by a shared purpose.

The live auction brought plenty of energy, with each winning bid met by cheers and applause, creating a true sense of shared excitement. Guests browsed the silent auction tables, filled with prizes generously donated by local businesses and community members. Meanwhile, the raffle added unexpected moments of fun, with lucky winners enjoying surprise rewards throughout the evening.

By the end of the night, the community raised over RMB 120,000, setting a new fundraising record for the SCIS Hongqiao ECE Art Auction.

More than just an art show, this annual event reinforces the values of empathy, creativity, and collective action. Year after year, our community has combined artistic expression with purposeful giving, making a tangible difference in the lives of children who need it most.
