Upper School

HIS offers a full college preparatory curriculum for high school students.  We do not track any students and all classes are offered at a college preparatory level or above.  In addition to the traditional 4 year program in English, math, science and social studies, HIS is able to offer the following electives:  journalism, music, environmental science, robotics, Spanish, PE, jazz band, French, film analysis and production, Mandarin, drama, art and technology.


Advanced Placement (AP)

Currently HIS offers eleven Advanced Placement classes for the 2012-2013 year including:  AP Economics, AP European History, AP Psychology, AP Calculus AB, AP Calculus BC, AP Chemistry, AP Biology AP Statistics, AP Physics, AP Mandarin, AP English Language and Literature and AP English Literature and Composition.


Class Rank

Given the small size of the graduating classes and the transience of the student population HIS does not rank its students.

Graduation Requirements
Language arts: 4 credits
Mathematics:  3 credits
Social Studies: 3 credits
World Languages:  3 credits
Senior Project:  1 credit
Sciences:  3 credits
Fine arts:  2 credits
Electives:  4 credits
PE:  2 credits

Total: 25 Credits


Each academic course meets for a minimum one hundred and fifty minutes per week and earns 1.0 credit per academic year. Courses of shorter duration earn partial credit.
